I've been researching my wife's fami...Hello<br />I've been researching my wife's family to identify a link to 'Sandy Whitestar' Alexander Rutherford, born about 1822 in Newhaven Leith. He had a son born in 1843 in Newhaven, whom I believe would be the person in your image. There are a number of historic images of Sandy Whitestar taken around 1845 in Newhaven, these are amongst the first social images ever taken, I have three copies which I've located. Sandy is the Scottish abbreviation for Alexander and Whitestar is the name of his fishing boat, this was common practice at the time.
